Flowers and motorcycle… There is probably no better way to experience the unique, colourful and fabulous flower season than riding at easygoing pace on selected off-road trails of moderate difficulty.

This tour is a springtime vision that will colour your imagination for the rest of your days. Here, Namaqualand daisies and more than 3 500 other floral species emerge in spring – from early August to the end of September – to offer one of the world’s greatest flower shows.

Known as ‘the bulb capital of the world’, the soils of Nieuwoudtville contain startling numbers of geophytes (plants that have underground storage organs). A single spadeful of earth can yield nearly 100.

.

An incredible 1 350 plant species have been recorded on the Bokkeveld Plateau so far, and about a third of these are threatened with extinction.

This tour is absolutely suitable for off-road beginners.

PROGRAMME

 

Day 1: (220km)

Meeting at endurafrica (08:00) – Collection of equipment and allocation of the bikes.

Bellville – The Old Railways Road – Darling – Langebaan

Day 2: (195 or 175km)

Langebaan – West Coast – Lambert’s Bay – Vredendal or Clanwilliam

Day 3: (260 or 240km)

Vredendal or Clanwilliam – Klawer – Vanrhynsdorp – Nieuwoudtville

Day 4: (175km)

Loop around the Bokkefeld Plateau and visit of the Kokerboom forest (Nieuwoudtville)

Day 5: (175km)

Nieuwoudtville – Rooibos Heritage Route – Wupperthal – Cederberg Oasis

Day 6: (300km)

Cederberg – Tankwa Karoo – Ceres – Bain’s Kloof – Bellville

Restitution of the bikes & equipment – End

OTHER INFORMATION

 

This tour only requires basic off-road skills, and although the small displacement dual-sport motorcycles make things easier than with a big adventure bike, a reasonable level of fitness is strongly recommended.
